Volunteers - Committee Descriptions


Approximate start and end times and days of operation are listed below each committee - please know that the day is generally divided into 2 - 3 shifts per day. You will have the chance to select AM, PM or select both on your application. Once you are accepted as a volunteer and receive a confirmation email from the tournament office with your assignment, your volunteer captain will be in touch with you to give you exact shift times.

Admissions
Handle ticket sales; Assist with checking for proper admission credentials; administer "will-call" for tickets that have been left for future pick-up; and provide general information to all spectators. Must be at least 21.
Estimate 20 volunteers.
Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, July 25 - 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Carts
Control distribution of tournament carts (Check-Out and Check-In).
Estimate 12 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Sunday, July 25 - 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Child Care
Care for players' children while they are competing on the golf course. Childcare will be set up off-site close to the course, location TBD. A background check is required; the Tournament will cover the background check expense for the volunteer. Must be 16 or older.
Estimate 30 volunteers.
Tuesday, July 20 - 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Wednesday, July 21 - 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Thursday, July 22 - 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Friday, July 23 - 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday, July 24 - 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Sunday, July 25 - 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Courtesy Cars
Drive tournament cars to transport pro's to and from the airport and golf course. Must be at least 21 with a valid license.
Estimate 40 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Sunday, July 25 - 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. (or as flights dictate - some will arrive late at night and some volunteers may be asked to be "on call")

Hospitality (Sponsors)
Provide assistance and information to corporate sponsor clients. Ensure that only properly credentialed clients re allowed in private skybox and hospitality areas.
Estimate 25 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Sunday, July 25 - 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Leaderboards
Keep leaders' scores up to date as play evolves on several manual leader boards.
Estimate 12 volunteers.
Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, July 25 - 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Marshals
Provide ball spotting to players and control the movement and chatter of spectators. This is an on-course active position.
Estimate 250 volunteers to cover all 18 holes.
Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, July 25 - 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM

Media Center
Assist the Nationwide Tour in the media tent by answering phones, making copies and any other needs.
Estimate 12 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Sunday, July 25 - 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

On Course Services
Replenish water, ice, pairing sheets, newspapers and other product on course. Empty trash bins and help to keep the course free of debris. Must be 18 or older.
Estimate 40 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Monday, July 26 - 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.

Pro-Am Operations
Register amateurs and Pro's, organize and hand out gifts to the amateurs playing in Pro-Am's.
Estimate 10 volunteers each day.
Monday, July 19 - 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM - approx.
Tuesday, July 20 - 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM - approx.
Wednesday, July 21 - 6:30 AM to 8:00 PM - approx.

Scoring Tents #9 & #18
Collect scorecards, check addition and make sure each player turns in their card.
Estimate 20 volunteers.
Thursday, July 22 & Friday, July 23 - 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM - 2 shifts - 6 per shift
Saturday, July 24 & Sunday, July 25- 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM - 2 shifts - 3 per shift

Standard Bearers
Are a committee of adults and youth from age 13 and up to accompany each group of Tour Professionals by carrying a sign inside the ropes during play and display their scores. An adult walking scorer will also accompany you. The volunteer must be able to carry the standard (6-7 lbs.) for 18 holes.
We need an estimated 100 volunteers.
This is also a great way for youth to earn service hours! Kids are NOT required to purchase the $40 package - uniforms (T-shirt and hat) will be provided FREE of charge.
Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, July 25 - between 6:30 AM and 7:30 PM.

The Golf Channel
Carry microphones and TV cables inside the ropes alongside TV operations crew! (Each volunteer MUST work Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday all day, no exceptions). Must be at least 21 years of age.
Estimate 21 volunteers.
July 22 - July 25 - 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Uniform Distribution
Help to inventory and pass out uniforms to over 800 volunteers (two weeks BEFORE the tournament week).
Estimate 20 volunteers.
Monday, July 5 - Friday, July 9 - approx. 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Volunteer Central & Party Set Up
Manage volunteer check-in and distribution of volunteer food vouchers. Oversee general operations of the volunteer headquarters including food & beverage set-up if needed. Assist with the volunteer party planning and decoration on Sunday following play.
Estimate 15 volunteers.
Monday, July 19 - Sunday, July 25 - 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Walking Scorers
Walk 18 holes of golf with a pro keeping stats in a palm pilot. Golf knowledge is necessary to work this committee.
Estimate 100 volunteers.
Thursday, July 22 - Sunday, July 25 - 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM.


Remember all committees will be trained 2 weeks prior to the tournament. The schedule will be posted on the website in March.
